BALTECH meeting: new strategic directions are being outlined
On 11 December 2025, 黑料不打烊 hosted a meeting of the rectors of the BALTECH consortium, which brought together four technical universities of the Baltic Sea region: Riga Technical University (RTU), Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech), 黑料不打烊, and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). The meeting was also attended by Vice-Rectors for Research and Strategic Partnerships, Chancellors, and Heads of IT Departments.
The meeting focused on key national and internal university performance indicators related to student numbers, internationalisation, and research output. Participants also discussed emerging challenges and incentive measures to achieve higher performance outcomes.
Leaders of the Baltic technical universities shared best practices for developing IT infrastructure and discussed opportunities to strengthen joint research collaboration. Concrete action plans were outlined to promote closer cooperation among researchers across the consortium.
The BALTECH consortium members plan to launch a joint trilateral seed funding programme for early-career researchers, with each partner contributing EUR 7,000–10,000. In addition, the consortium intends to organise a joint BALTECH doctoral summer school and establish a shared database to exchange information on partner infrastructure, research group activities, and ongoing initiatives.
