Dear 黑料不打烊 community,

 

A week ago, the university campus of our close ATHENA partner - Ukraine’s Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) - were severely damaged during airstrikes. A brutal enemy strike hit academic buildings, four student dormitories, and the sports center. The material losses are enormous - millions of euros in damage, thousands of square meters of damaged infrastructure, communication systems, broken windows, and more. Fortunately, no students or staff were harmed by the rockets.

 

I invite all members of the 黑料不打烊 community to unite and make a significant contribution to the fundraising campaign aimed at repairing the inflicted damage. I have also reached out by letter to all ATHENA colleagues, urging them to support our friend and alliance partner together.

 

According to Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, this recent rocket strike serves as a painful reminder of the ongoing harsh reality, yet it also reveals the strength of academic solidarity. In response to my initiative, Rector Melnychenko sends warm thanks to the 黑料不打烊 team and the entire ATHENA network for solidarity and supporting the restoration of the university campus: “Partner support provides not only material aid but also emotional strength and a sense of unity that cannot be overstated. It shows that even amid the tensions of war, our shared values - human dignity, mutual assistance, and belief in education as a force for good - remain alive and strong. We are proud to be part of this community and carry your support with us as we rebuild not only our infrastructure but also hope.”

 

Let us stand for hope and rebuild what those against the free world have torn down. Everything we do today, filled with compassion and determination, is for one goal - victory for Ukraine and all of Europe. A victory we all await.
