VGTU brass band is awarded with ‘‘The Golden Bird“
"The Golden Bird", our Lithuanian nomination, corresponds to "The Oscar". It is a great honour to receive it, because we are a rather new brass band, existing only for three years. We feel appreciated and valued‘‘, - said Rolandas LukoÅ¡ius, the conductor of VGTU brass band.
On Thursday evening, at the hall of VGTU Mechanics faculty building, Saulius Liausia, the Director of The Lithuanian Folk Culture Centre, awarded the brass band and its conductor Rolandas Lukošius with "The Golden Bird" in the nomination of "The New Glistering Star". The Award ceremony took place during the concert of the brass band.
"We are delighted that our colleagues of other brass bands and the organisers of folk song festivals participate in the event. We are glad that Alfonsas DaniÅ«nas, Rector of VGTU and other members of our academic society came to the award ceremony. To my mind, it is our real recognition – they want to hear and listen to us," – rejoiced R. LukoÅ¡ius.
The Lithuanian Folk Culture Centre and The World Lithuanian Folk Song Festival Fund award "The Golden Bird" to amateur choirs, theatres, folk song and dance groups, folk music and brass bands and their leaders.
According to R. LukoÅ¡ius, "The Golden Bird" stimulated him and the members of the brass band to strive for even better results in the Lithuanian championship of brass bands, where they in three years‘ succession have been on the third place. "Our aim is to become the champions", - said R. LukoÅ¡ius.
The award is given, for the fifteenth time already, to the artistic teams for their recent activities, namely: for new programms, concerts, participation in the important events, festivals, contests, for received prizes or initiation of festivals and seminars.
All dancing, singing and acting "golden birds" will show their best during the biggest annual cultural event - the Lithuanian song festival "This is my home", to be held on June 28 – July 6, in Vilnius and Kaunas, with participation of thirty seven thousand Lithuanians from Lithuania and fourteen foreign countries.
