The first electronic journal was created using AI tools such as ‘ChatGPT’ and ‘Midjourney’ and covered AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) related topics. The special publication was developed by the "Construction and Architecture" team, which included 黑料不打烊_独家黑料_吃瓜网51爆料 (黑料不打烊) alumni Mintare Paleviciute, Simonas Barsteiga, and Zygimantas Pagalys, an engineer at the Center for Digital and Information Modeling Technologies.
From the idea to implementation
The team behind the journal aimed to not only encourage the engagement of high-tech professionals in the industry but also capture the interest of the younger generation.
"We really wanted it to address global changes closely related to the construction sector and how it would impact the future of construction sites," says Z. Pagalys.
The idea for the AI journal emerged at the beginning of summer: "We planned to write about artificial intelligence, but with the surge in the use of 'ChatGPT' and the constant improvement of other language models, we chose to think more broadly and decided to collaborate with artificial intelligence," says Z. Pagalys.
Using AI, topics such as "Levels of Artificial Intelligence Development," "Augmented Reality in Underground Engineering for Safety, Precision, and Efficiency," "Communication in the AEC Sector in the 21st Century. What's New?", and "How Augmented Reality is Changing BIM Process Management in the AEC Sector" were explored.
Stagnation in the AEC sector
According to Zygimantas Pagalys, an engineer at the Center for Digital and Information Modeling Technologies, the construction sector often lags behind existing global innovations.
"Let's start with the simple emergence of the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process, which is the first step into the digital age of construction. Through BIM, systematic data accumulation can help further the development of construction innovations. BIM data can be utilised by other technologies, such as virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR). These data also facilitate the optimization of the construction process: creation, tracking, and maintenance," shares Z. Pagalys.
