Course mainly focuses at the metal matrix based composites, ceramic materials and their use in composites. The powder composites are analyzed as well .

Prediction the residual life and design durability of metal products and structures is very important in assessing the technical condition and safety of various designed and operated objects. The module provides doctoral students with an understanding of material degradation and fatigue phenomena, criteria and their modeling methodologies. The material taught in the module provides information about analytical prediction models of residual life and design durability. The module reviews the features and conditions of existing experimental methods, analyzes the specifics and structural features of various dynamic test equipment.

This module is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of advanced microscopy techniques for the analysis of material microstructures at various scales, ranging from the microscale to the nanoscale. Students will learn the principles behind different microscopy methods, their applications in materials science, and how they can be employed to characterize material properties and analyze microstructural features. Special emphasis will be placed on techniques such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), including their variants and applications for mechanical and topographic analysis, as well as in corrosion and defect studies.

Description

Every day people come into contact with porous materials, which surround them, and widely used in many engineering fields as well. A general introduction to porous materials provides PhD students with an understanding of the classification, properties and uses of porous materials. The material taught in the module provides information on the production technologies of porous materials of different nature, their practical application in different civil engineering structures (thermal insulation, sound absorption, vibration damping, etc.). The main properties of porous materials and various methods of determining these properties were analyzed in the module.

Combined effects of corrosion and frost resistance on the durability of building materials.

Description

Production technologies, raw materials and their preparation. Classification of thermal insulating materials and general technical requirements. Structure. The main properties of these materials. Neorganic thermal insulation materials. Organic thermal insulation materials. Testing methods. Use thermal insulating materials in new and renewable structures.

To provide doctoral students with knowledge about thermal insulating polymeric materials, their production, the peculiarities of structure formation and relevant performance properties.

Description

The module provides knowledge about the production, physical and chemical processes occurring during the production of thermal insulating polymeric materials, the peculiarities of structure formation and the possibilities of its modification with fillers of inorganic and organic origin, relevant performance characteristics, and the interpretation of the obtained results. The synthesis of raw materials used in producing these products and the effect of raw material technical parameters on hardening, structural parameters and performance are also examined.

Provide the Ph.D. students with knowledge about the properties, structure and theoretical bases of production processes of refractory materials; familiarize with the possibilities of modification of refractory materials.

The module provides knowledge about the classification of refractory materials, their properties, the physical and chemical processes that occur during their production and at high temperatures, the peculiarities of the formation of the material structure and its modification possibilities, as well as the hardening mechanisms of refractory concrete with different binders and the effect of various loads on the durability of refractory materials is discussed.
