Double Degree

The Electrical Power Systems Engineering Master鈥檚 programme is offered as a double degree in partnership with National Sun Yat-sen University (NSYSU), Taiwan. Students may spend one semester at NSYSU. If at least 40% of the programme credits are earned there and the studies are successfully completed, students receive Master鈥檚 degree diplomas from both institutions.

In this bachelor's thesis, a system for measuring stroke power and frequency has been designed. Existing commercial stroke power and frequency measurement systems, force sensors, communication protocols, and microcontrollers have been analyzed. The design section includes detailed operational diagrams of the system, selection and justification of equipment components, as well as system mounting and sealing. The conclusions and recommendations section discusses the obtained results and provides suggestions for further improvement. The graphical material includes an electrical diagram, functional diagram, algorithm diagram, construction drawing, and impulse diagram. The thesis consists of 8 parts: introduction, analytical part, design part, results analysis, conclusions and recommendations, list of references, graphical part, and appendices. The scope of the thesis is 100 pages of text excluding appendices, 59 illustrations, 10 tables, and 56 bibliographic sources. The appendices are provided separately.

Thesis abstract (EN)
This paper examines the possibilities of developing a hybrid park in Lithuania that would combine three different energy sources in one substation - electricity generated by wind turbines, electricity generated by solar panels and a storage unit that would store excess energy and supply it to the grid at a selected peak times. It is also designed a 70 MW wind, 95 MW solar and 20 MW battery hybrid park and calculated capital expenditure, operational expenditure, annual production and levelized cost of electricity, while using publicly available data. The aim of the study is to assess the practical value of such a park and analyze the prospects for its implementation in the Lithuania's energy context. Not only the advantages of a hybrid park in Lithuania are assessed, but also its weaknesses and complexities. The results showed that hybrid parks can significantly increase the reliability of energy supply, reduce dependence on imported energy and use the infrastructure more efficiently.

The aim of this master thesis is to develop and test a model based on GIS (Geographical Information System) and multi-criteria analysis techniques to find potential sites for solar power plants. Site searches are influenced by many factors (e.g. environmental, legal, political and social factors), and therefore it is not efficient to use classical analytical tools and methods (e.g. AHP or ELECTRE) alone. Combining several different approaches provides the optimal result. GIS is a tool that simplifies the search for the location of solar power plants by incorporating technical, legal, political and environmental criteria (e.g. solar radiation intensity, local topography, environment, including the nearest roads, lines, their capacity and distance to substations). Once the technical, legal, political and environmental criteria have been evaluated and data collected on how they determine the choice of a site, an all-in-one model-tool can be developed using GIS input parameters (e.g. solar radiation time series, digital elevation models) for the purpose of siting solar power plants. The master鈥檚 thesis analyzes the impact of prosumers鈥 solar power plants on a low-voltage electricity distribution network. The study is based on real data from a 0.4 kV network and modeling performed using the EA-PSM platform. The research examines changes in network parameters after the integration of solar power plants: voltage rise, harmonic distortion, flicker, load reduction, current variation, and voltage unbalance. The influence of different power factors of voltage inverters, transformer tap changer settings, and the reactive power control function Q(U) on power quality indicators is evaluated. A comparative analysis of the simulation results and actual network quality measurements was carried out, confirming the accuracy of the developed network model. The results obtained in the thesis are presented in graphs, tables, and diagrams. The final findings are summarized in the conclusions. The thesis consists of 7 chapters: introduction, analytical part, methodology, research section, conclusions, list of references, and appendices. The thesis comprises 71 pages of text without appendices, 42 figures, 12 tables, and 50 references. Appendices are attached to the work.

In the final master's thesis is a research of quasi-resonant flyback converter. In literature analysis is discussed what this converter is, what does it do, what are advantages of it compared to other converters. In theoretical part is analyzed the control of converter, what controller is used, what parameters does it measure and output to control, what operating modes converter has. In experimental part convert is connected to electrical source and to a load at the output. Results where measured. Graphs and tables were made and calculations were made. And in the end the conclusions about the converter. Thesis consist of: 78 p. text without appendixes, 56 pictures, 4 tables, 31 bibliographical entries.

The final bachelor's thesis designs a fire detection and alarm system for warehouse buildings with administrative premises. The project was based on technical requirements and standards related to the designed object. The first part of the work reviews the equipment and sensors used in fire detection and alarm systems. The legal acts that are used to design this system are evaluated, and it is also explained how a fire matrix is created. In the design part, a specific fire control panel manufacturer is selected, according to which the corresponding sensors were selected. After receiving tasks from other parts of the engineering projects, a fire detection and alarm system is designed. According to the received design information, a schematic diagram is created and a fire matrix is created, taking into account the functionality of the building. Based on all the collected data, the fire control panel was configured. Thesis content: introduction, analytical part, project part, conclusions, bibliography, appendices. Thesis scope: 60 pages, 32 figures, 4 tables, 21 sources of information and 6 appendices.

The final master's thesis investigates the ion beam homogeneity generated by a plasma source inside a vacuum chamber using Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS) technology. The research object is tantalum pentoxide (Ta鈧侽鈧) optical coatings formed by varying the accelerating voltage, argon gas flow rate, and ion source current. COMSOL Multiphysics software was used for charged particle trajectory simulations to assess the spatial and energetic distribution of ions. Experimental coating deposition was carried out under identical conditions, and the resulting layers were analyzed by measuring the refractive index, absorption coefficient, and laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT). The findings demonstrate how process parameters influence coating uniformity and performance. The thesis consists of 4 main parts: introduction, literature review, methodological and experimental sections, results and conclusions. The total thesis volume is 53 pages (excluding appendices), 29 figures, 11 tables, and 35 literature sources.

Thesis abstract (EN)
In the final thesis of the bachelor's degree, presents the development of a prototype for an automated greenhouse based on a Raspberry Pi microcomputer and open source platform Home Assistant. Automated greenhouse systems and the capabilities of IoT were analyzed. The system integrates variation of different sensors such as temperature and humidity, soil moisture, ultrasonic and light intensity sensors, which transmit data via the MQTT protocol. The control logic is programmed using the Python programming language. The results obtained are summarized in the conclusions. The graphical part includes design drawings of the greenhouse and the layout of installed sensors. The work consists of 8 parts: introduction, analytical part, design part, analysis of results, conclusions and suggestions, list of references, graphical part, annexes. The volume of the work consists of 60 pages of text without appendices, 26 illustrations, 5 tables, 28 bibliographical references. The annexes are attached separately.

In the final thesis of the bachelor's degree, a 3-axis manipulator designed for changing car wheels is designed. It analyses various car wheel replacement systems, different types of manipulators, stepper motors, and tools used for wheel replacement. The project part includes the selection of a driver and actuators based on performed calculations. The structure of the manipulator is explained. Functional and electrical diagrams are created. Inverse kinematics calculations are performed. A system control algorithm is developed. The conclusions and suggestions discuss the obtained results and provide recommendations for further improvement of the manipulator. The work consists of 7 parts: introduction, analytical part, design part, analysis of results, conclusions and suggestions, list of references, annexes. The volume of the work consists of 65 pages of text without appendices, 38 illustrations, 4 tables, 29 bibliographical references.

Tai nagrin臈jama siekiant suprojektuoti 寞tais膮, kuris ne tik tinkamai paruo拧t懦 elektrod膮 skanuojan膷iam elektrocheminiam mikroskopui bei pritaikyt懦 j寞 寞vairiems elektrod懦 tipams, bet ir tam, kad b奴t懦 sukurtas saugus, lengvai integruojamas ir valdomas 寞renginys. In this bachelor's thesis, a control system for an electrode grinding device is designed, intended for grinding microelectrodes used in Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy (SECM). The work analyzes the technology for preparing SECM electrodes, the concept of microelectrodes, and similar devices available on the market. This analysis is conducted in order to design a device that not only properly prepares electrodes for SECM and adapts to different types of electrodes but also ensures that the device is safe, easy to integrate, and user-friendly. Based on the information gathered in the analytical part, the practical section includes the selection of system components, creation of functional and schematic electrical diagrams, development of the system operation algorithm, and programming of the control software. To better understand the functionality of the designed system, a simulation was created using an online platform. This simulation tested the device's safety features, component connections, signal generation and processing, and the user interface. Based on the results of the simulation, the final conclusions of the thesis were formulated. The thesis consists of the following sections: Introduction, analytical and practical parts, results analysis, electrical Safety, conclusions and recommendations, references, and appendixe. Thesis consist of 51 pages (excluding appendixes), 34 pictures, 23 sources.
