History of the Faculty
The Klaip臈da Maritime School was established on the basis of the Klaip臈da Fisheries Technical School following its closure. The Klaip臈da Maritime School began its activities on 8 April 1948. It operated as a closed, militarised educational institution. Cadets were required to live on campus, follow strict regulations, and wear uniforms both inside and outside the school.
The Klaip臈da Seafarers School was incorporated into the Klaip臈da Maritime School, which continued to operate under its existing name.
Following reorganisation and its transfer to the authority of the Ministry of Culture and Education, the Klaip臈da Maritime School was renamed the Klaip臈da Higher Maritime School.
The Klaip臈da Higher Maritime School became the Maritime Institute College of Klaip臈da University.
The Lithuanian Maritime College was created as a result of the reorganisation of the Maritime Institute College at Klaip臈da University.
